The Gabby Gourmet Show, hosted by Pat Miller, airs in the Denver market on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on 630 KHOW. Pat has been hosting the show for almost 40 years. Not only does she bring her culinary expertise and a loyal audience to radio, she also writes feature articles for Colorado Expressions and various publications with her emphasis on dining in Denver.
In addition to being an accomplished cookbook author, Pat writes and publishes The Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Guide, a guide to dining in the greater Denver Metroplex. This 30th Guide brings a special anniversary edition of the book and is on sale now. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the national Share Our Strength organization, a growing network of chefs and foodservice professionals dedicated to providing a long-term source of support for the fight against hunger; and, received their 1996 Award of Excellence honoring extraordinary accomplishments, spirit, and leadership in the fight against hunger as a Food/Hospitality Industry Professional. Pat was one of three inductees into the Colorado Restaurant Association’s Foodservice Hall of Fame for 1992; and, was selected National Philanthropy Day In Colorado’s Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser in 1991. She received an honorary doctorate degree from Johnson & Wales University in 2007 and works closely with the restaurant community in helping to alleviate the hunger situation and to promote various charity events throughout the year. She is founder of GIVE PAWS, a fundraiser for The Denver Dumb Friends League. In its 12th year, 100 percent of the proceeds go directly to the charity.
The Gabby Gourmet Show is a 1-hour call-in talk show that focuses primarily on Denver area dining. Guests include local and nationally known restaurateurs, chefs, food authors and critics. The “target audience” is composed of knowledgeable and faithful listeners who follow Pat’s advice on where to dine, and places to shop for special goods and services. Unlike other types of advertising, this format gives added value, due to the “focus” audience it reaches—it is conceptual sell and Gabby Gourmet listeners do appreciate the candor with which Pat delivers her “gab.”
