Here’s the Scoop from Saturday’s show on 630 KHOW, Listen to the entire show from June 23, 2018. Saturday on 630 KHOW, Listen to the entire show from June 9, 2018. . My guests were Ken Boyle and chef Garet Hiles of Smokin Fins and Ashley Rowe of Constellation wines. They brought great food and such exciting wines-Ruffino prosecco and rose in a bottle-with a paper straw!! Yum.

We heard about the new dinner and much more.

The question of the day: there are 4 locations of Smokin Fins-how many corn tortillas (all made in house), does each restaurant serve in a year—35,000

Listen to the whole podcast for details-and look at the 3 new Gabby dinners!!!

STOIC & GENUINE
1701 Wynkoop
303-640-3474

Amazing dinner at Stoic and Genuine. Well. Whole fish and a burger. We had to have both. Ten for each, cocktails, and wine too. Great patio and bar as well. This place is great-patio, bar, and room -a big winner a.t Union Station. The feature wonderful raw bar-oysters, crab legs, lobsters, and whatever is available. Salmon tataki, tonnato with eggplant fries, shrimp, salads such as Bibb lettuce or broccoli, he crab soup, and the list of appetizers goes on. There are entrees for land or sea lovers like salmon, spicy curry mussels, paella, and one outrageous burger. And the best whole fish, flash fried and served in a way you do not have to debone it—and so excellent. There is a list of decadent desserts too. The staff is great and know all about everything-food and alcohol. Stoic and Genuine is a great choice for locals or to show off to visitors. Or for me!!

Fun Lunch at Chada Thai-not much atmosphere but our lunch was very good-heading back for dinner so will share more!! Including sticky mango rice.

EL FIVE
2930 UMATILLA
303-524-9193

El Five continues to amaze-it is fun to talk to folks who have just discovered it. How marvelous-were have I been-nothing better-and those regulars say the same. The menu features tapas-big enough to share-and then 5 entrees of paella. The menu does not necessarily change by season but by adding and change some and leaving old favorites. Babaganush, lettuce leaves stuffed with veggies, cauliflower, cheese croquettes, lamb ribs or sausage, carrots, and the ne Dungeness crab are wonderful, as was the seafood paella. Cocktails and drinks shine, and service is beyond perfect. Décor like non-other makes this the most unique and special place to be.

FAMILY JONES SPIRITS
3245 OSAGE
303-481-8185

The most awesome Gabby dinner at Family Jones. Fantastic food and the cocktails outrageous. The best ever. Get there!!

The Family Jones Spirit House is deceiving in its name-yes, it is that with fantastic spirits all made there and the best ever! But it is one heck of a marvelous gourmet dining spot. The food is amazing. We had a gabby dinner here-started with a smoked salmon with house made buttermilk ricotta and a brioche crouton with bourbon cherry sour. Then came the awesome watermelon salad with arugula, raclette cracker(omg), crispy prosciutto and sunflower seeds with Vesper martini. Then the unbelievable Oregon rockfish with a beef ragu puttanesa over potato gratin, English pea, roasted tomato, and mint with a mojito like you never had. Finally, the dark chocolate brownie was over the hill delicious with cherry lime sorbet and juniper shortbread crumble with rock and rye. The crowd said one of the best ever,, and it was. They are a marvelous spot—Family Jones is the place to visit often for great fun and fabulous food and drink.

CITIZEN RAIL
1899 16TH ST
303-323-0017

Citizen Rail should be on everyone’s list to go. It is a steakhouse but more. Great happy hour, service the best, and great wine start. We were at chefs counter. Bursts with eggplant, hummus tdf, steak and awesome chicken. And even the carrots wow. Ice cream delish too. A great spot. Bro, lunch and dinner too. And don’t forget the burger.

Citizen Rail is in the new, popular Hotel Born and what a treat. The service is outstanding-the bar area a loud party with a huge crowd gathering for happy hour and great food at terrific prices. There is a super patio as well, but my favorite spot is the chefs bar in the main dining room. The seafood appetizer-mussels, sturgeon, grilled oysters, and more start the fun. We had some of these at the bar too and a hummus yogurt salad that is a must. So is the burrata with eggplant tapenade with a brioche bun under all. Steaks star and are huge and great but the sliced flank steak is perfect with morels and gnocchi. The chicken is just plain wonderful-grilled and crispy with an arugula bread salad and tomatillo sauce makes for a heavenly dish. The charred carrots are worth the trip. Desserts are great too. The experience is one huge treat.
