SATCHEL’S ON 6TH

Satchels on 6th is a gem of a neighborhood spot. So warm and friendly and mobbed with happy diners. Great food and service here.

Satchel’s is a true neighborhood gem. It is small with a focal bar, tables around the room, and then one very special night. The menu changes often with great appetizers-the duck confit pasta with cauliflower and poached egg is worth the trip-but so is the burger!! It is something to see-cooked beautifully with pork belly bacon and gruyere melted cheese and duck fat fries-order duck, fish, vegetarian, and be thrilled. Desserts are decadent-go for the St. Louis gooey shortcake-so rich and so good. Why not! Sunday brings special dinners each week too. And brunch is another hit. Whatever you pick Satchel’s is one great choice.

ULTREIA
1701 WYNKOOP IN UNION STATION
303-534-1970

Tapas and small plates at Ultreia at Union Station is one of the biggest treats around-great food with an Iberian accent, great staff, and don’t forget the gin bar too! A total treat.

Ultreia, the newest spot in Union Station, is a welcome addition. It is stunning to see-high ceilings, great wall murals, an two levels here-and a gin bar along one whole wall set the scene. Food and service are very special. It is tapas-all being made for sharing and some big plates too-yes, keep sharing. Service is wonderful too. My favorite will always be the pan with tomato and prosciutto-then stuffed dates are a must and ham and cheese croquettes. Ribs are very special, and potatoes Brava a must have. Then add steak on a skewer and trout topped with prosciutto and you will be very full-and very happy. Service is awesome too. Stop by for lunch and dinner and enjoy this delightful place.

LITTLE OLLIE
2360 E 3r Ave
303-316-8888

Some new things we tried at little Ollie’s Happy hour fun

Little Ollie is always so good and the bar a terrific spot to hang out. Sunday night dinners are always fun with TVs around and Chinese, Asian or just plain American favorites are there to enjoy.

ATELIER
2011 E 17the Ave
720-379-5556

Atelier by Radex is on my top dining list in Denver-yes we ate all that food-and you can’t leave a bite-it is innovated, awesome, and fun. What a gem and every guest now has a new favorite place!

Atelier is so special. It is charming and delightful, and the food is totally awesome. The open kitchen is a place to see-this small space with Radek at the helm, turns out the most beautiful dishes of food that taste as fabulous as they look. Each dish amazes-the farmer’s salad, mussels are like no other, plump and delicious, scallops are perfectly cooked-and then the potatoes au gratin, the pickled cucumbers, the shrimp done on a turntable, and ducks over Washington-and there is so much more-TV dinners-not like used in the stores, and duck rillettes on bread with a fried egg- one can go on and on. Dinner is very special, and it is a gem for lunch too. Atelier is the place to be.

ANNETTE
2501 Dallas
Aurora
720-710-9975

Almost through the menu at Annette. The only major dish left is whole fish. Egg salad , squash salad, mushrooms and octopus tonight. Great and wine in a can that was a winner!

Annette just oozes charm with not only the place and food but a staff that is extraordinary. Every server, bartender, whoever makes your visit more special, In a day where staff is not always great, this is one exception. And then of course the food is awesome too. All made for sharing, and a staff that is so caring, Annette rates tops in all.

TAVERNETTA
1889 16th St
720-605-1889

Tavernetta dinner. Pastas, salad, and fab bread. Staff very nice and fun area too.

Tavernetta brings crowds at the new sister restaurant of Frasca. Behind Union Station it is a fun walk around the area. The space has a great bar area, a few tables new the kitchen and lovely dining room. The menu is not huge with choices for antipasti, salads, a few starters and then pastas and entrees. Of course, there is dessert. The bread is divine and ask for olive oil for dipping. Service is nice. A new hotspot for both locals and visitors, enjoy the scene.

KATHERINE’S FRENCH BAKERY
728 S. University
303-282-5888

Katherine is definitely a hot spot for ladies at lunch. We had egg salad sandwich and Cobb salad

Enter and see a wonderful display of pastries offered for sale or to eat there. Pick one to enjoy with coffee or sit down at one of the tables in the room and enjoy breakfast or lunch. Lots of egg dishes, several sandwiches and salads and those dessert make up the menu. The food is nicely presented and servers were very nice.

ACORN
3350 Brighton Blvd
720-542-3721

A totally amazing dinner at Acorn. Every dish was perfect in presentation and taste. And perfect service too

Acorn is the upscale dining room in the Source. It is very contemporary, high ceilings, a welcoming bar and focal kitchen. The folks here are very talented, and food is always special. Lots of small plates for sharing and then 3 entrees designed for 2-or more. Some of the favorites were the kale apple salad, a signature, and then wood roasted clams that I am still dreaming of-the presentation on grilled bread with perfect seasonings a real treat. Then duck confit with fingerling potato and duck egg and shaitake mushrooms to die for with almond Romesco. The entrée of oak roasted half chicken with gruyere bread pudding, leek, winter squash, broccolini, and rosemary whipped potatoes again is awesome. It is designed for two but easily serves more. There are decadent desserts, cocktails and wine, and awesome service too. Acorn is the best.
