EL FIVE AGAIN!
Another night at El Five–never run out of great food-and no way to eat it all in one sitting-so keep on coming back-ok I will.
El Five is the hottest restaurant in town for good reason. The ambience amazes and the food, cocktails and wine are perfect. So is the service. Every detail rocks. You can choose charcutier type plates to start that range from med specials to seafood. Then the center of the menu is designed for sharing—cheese croquettes, matzo ball dumplings, cauliflower yukka, baba ghanoush, lettuce wraps, steak, potatoes, lamb sausage with hummus, lamb ribs-and that is just some. Then there are 5 entrée paellas from which to choose-seafood, vegetarian, rabbit and sausage, sausage and more. Desserts are divine as well Make a reservation!!

Can’t believe we ate all that fabulous food from the new chef and menu at Ace!! On my way back!
Ace, eat, service has its great ping pong rooms where crowds gather nightly for fun!! And it is. Now Josh and Jen Wolken have a new chef Thack Tran who amazes and pastry chef Nadine Donovan and now the food is exciting and addictive. We had lots, but some favorites were the gyoza to start and the jade stir fry-a mix of wonderful veggies that disguise the fact that they are healthy with spices and taste. The Bao buns are worth the trip-pork belly with mustard seed on the side is a must. Ramen is a hit with several options, but we went for spice market beef with beef broth—crispy beef with orange peel and chilies and the night market chicken, grilled with spies and goji berries and coconut rice are two dishes I could easily have once a week-or day!! Desserts are wow with a white chocolate mousse, chocolate sauce, and croutons of moji and kumquats pleased all. Lots of cocktails, wine, beer and nonalcoholic drinks too. With great service, the “new” Ace rocks!
E Colfax and St Paul
Annie’s Cafe for a bite before a meeting. Good eggs and avocado toast—an old standby for a good breakfast-all day and night-they poach eggs very well and it is old fashioned comfort-sandwiches, salads, Mexican food, pies, and yuy egg dishes. Not fancy here but pleasant spot for conversation too.
2354 E 3rd Ave
great time at Little Ollie’s for Valentine’s Day-surrounded by so many who just wanted the regular menu!!! and so good!!! Whether it’s delicious Chinese food—the best, great apps, sushi, and favorite dishes—or maybe a tuna or beef burger or chicken sandwich-it’s all there . it’s delicious to eat and so good in presentation too.
GREAT early bday lunch at Atelier-penne pollo and omelets were both divine.
Gaetanos does it again. Great food with super specials and wine and service too. Burrsta, Caesar, chop salad, chicken, mussels, Brussels and spaghetti Nd meatballs too. More than one diner!
Gaetano’s is a classic Italian restaurant with updated delicious food. The ambiance is terrific, friendly, and reminiscent of the old school in modern fashion. The food is just terrific from apps to pasta and entrees. Baskets of bread are there-super drinks and wine and you are off-the burrata is very special as are the other starters-the beef carpaccio is extraordinary. Then Caesar, chop or any salad is perfect. Don’t forget the minestrone-worth the trip. Pastas are great Bolognese, spaghetti and meatballs, tortellini lasagna—and flatbreads too. Entrees of mussels, chicken piccata or parm, veal or steak, and lots of fish-just try to decide. And decadent desserts too-all make Gaetano’s a special treat –and prices are very affordable too.
