Enter Palizo through a charming exterior walk and find a beautiful restaurant with big windows, lots of wood, green accents in fabric on booths and comfortable seating throughout the room. The bar area (really in front to the street) features a huge bar, lots of seating and a show of the S. Pearl scene as does the patio on the street. Another patio offers more privacy but both are so appealing.
The food is Italian and delicious. Start with antipasti of cured meats and pickled vegetables, a plate of three composed salads, a cheese platter, mussels, panzanella with grilled calamari, and crab salad.
Prime offers marvelous pastas in two portion sizes: pappardelle with Bolognese, gnocchi, ravioli, risotto, vongole, and pasta with San Marzano. All are perfectly cooked with sauces that call for bread to savor every bite. The mains bring an outstanding veal Milanese, chicken whole sea bass, an enormous steak that says for two but easily serves four, and fish of the day. Each is beautiful to see, better to taste.
Sides make perfect extras but not mandatory as the entrees do come with accompanying starches. Desserts are decadent and divine. The wines, cocktails, and beer complement the food perfectly. The service is as excellent as everything happening in this new spot.
Owner Patrick Mangold-White, Chef Tyler Cyre, and GM Trish White bring an exceptional restaurant with PALIZO to a very popular hood.
